SunSmart collects the following data, all stored locally on your device:

• Location (optional): If you grant location access, your GPS coordinates are used solely to fetch UV and weather data from the Open-Meteo API. Location data is not stored or transmitted to any third party beyond the API request.
• City preference: Your selected city is stored locally in your device's settings.
• Skin type: Your Fitzpatrick skin type selection (I-VI) is stored locally to personalize burn time calculations.

We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information.

2. How We Use Your Data

All collected data is used exclusively to provide the app's core functionality:

• Display real-time UV index for your location or selected city.
• Calculate personalized burn time based on your skin type.
• Show weather conditions, forecasts, and sun safety information.

3. Data Sharing & Third Parties

SunSmart does not share, sell, or transmit your personal data to any third party.

The only external communication is a request to the Open-Meteo API (https://open-meteo.com), which receives your latitude and longitude to return weather data. Open-Meteo is a free, open weather service that does not require authentication and does not build user profiles.

SunSmart contains no advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or third-party data collection tools.

4. Data Storage

All user preferences (city, skin type) are stored in your device's local storage using iOS UserDefaults. This data is never synced to iCloud or any cloud service unless you enable iCloud backup through your device settings.

5. Location Services

SunSmart requests "When In Use" location access to determine your current coordinates for weather data retrieval. You can deny location access and instead manually select a city from the app's built-in city list. You can revoke location permission at any time through your device Settings.

6. Children's Privacy

SunSmart does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages and does not require account creation.

7. In-App Purchases

SunSmart is completely free. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid features.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
