SunSmart - Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the SunSmart application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

SunSmart is a free iOS application that provides:

Real-time UV index data sourced from the Open-Meteo weather API.
Personalized sun safety information based on your selected skin type.
Weather forecasts, burn time estimates, and sun exposure guidance.
Home screen and lock screen widgets for quick UV reference.

The App is provided "as is" and is intended for informational purposes only.

3. License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on your personal iOS device for personal, non-commercial purposes.

4. No Medical Advice

The information provided by SunSmart is for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Burn time calculations are estimates based on generalized scientific models and your self-reported skin type. They do not account for individual health conditions, medications, or other factors that may affect sun sensitivity.
UV index data is derived from weather models and may not reflect real-time conditions at your exact location.
Always consult a qualified healthcare professional or dermatologist for medical advice regarding sun exposure, skin cancer prevention, or any health concerns.

5. User Responsibilities

By using SunSmart, you agree to:

Use the App only for lawful purposes.
Not attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or distribute the App.
Not use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its functionality.
Understand that sun safety decisions are ultimately your own responsibility.

6. Third-Party Services

SunSmart uses the Open-Meteo API (https://open-meteo.com) to provide weather and UV data. This service is provided by a third party and is subject to their own terms of service. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party services.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that UV data will always be accurate or timely.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developers of SunSmart shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of the App.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
